Halloween 2012

We started the day with a little bat making. Phia was way more into the painting this time than she was the last time we tried, so that was fun. I completely forgot to take a picture of her finished bat and it's packed in the attic now, but it was hilarious! The eyes were completely crooked and wonky. It had a sort of "I flew into a tree" look. It made me smile every time I looked at it.

Finally time to dress up! Phia is a butterfly, and after much pondering, Roo decided to go as a cat. Sadly, she lost her ears hours before the big event and ended up having to be a mouse. Exact same costume, just round ears instead of pointy. I think she looked adorable!

Somebody was excited!

She wasn't sure what to think of Papa is her hat.

The gang

Brother. Oh Brother. Let's not get into the discussion about what he was. Let's just say he ended up being the Pope. Or Jesus. I'm really not sure.

This was the 1st house we stopped at. I tried to get Phia out of the wagon to get some candy, but she wanted no part of it! As I tried to get her out, she latched on to the side and started screaming, "WHEEEEEEEEEE!" ("Whee" is what she calls anything she rides in or on: the bike seat, the swing, her ride on toys, the wagon, etc.) She wasn't scared, she just didn't want to get out of the wagon.

So, she rode happily in the wagon for the next two hours.

She rode around all night saying "poooopy!" Which is her version of "spooky!"

Hilarious story. Roo is like her Mama. Not a huge fan of actual "Halloween stuff". Loves the candy, does not love the spooky. She will skip over any house that has anything remotely scary. Seriously, she does not blink an eye over missing the candy. She says "nope!" and moves on. We never make her go. It's candy. If she wants to skip it, fine by us. This one particular house though, she put on her brave pants and went on up. About two seconds later, she was back. Crying and really ticked off. The guy was up on his porch, in the dark, wearing a Pinhead mask (from the movie Hell Raiser.) It's terrifying.
I'm telling you, she was MAD. "Why would someone want to put on the horrible mask and scare little children like that when all they want is some candy?!" I said, "I don't know sweetie. I just don't know."
I wanted to say, "Because its hilarious!"

The great candy swap!

Someone was up WAY past their bedtime, enjoying their very first ever lollipop!

the gang.
we are actually missing 5 people from this picture!

I don't love Halloween itself, but I do love the tradition we have started of having our friends and family over for food and fun. Making memories. I love it.

October 2012

October was such a crazy beautiful month! Its been my favorite of the year I think. The weather was perfect, and there were a ton of things to do! October made me super grateful to be a stay at home, homeschooling mommy.

We decorated for Halloween, and Phia LOVED the singing frogs Nana gave us.

She spent lots of time in her special cabinet. Taking things out, putting things in.

We tried to take a walk every morning. Somebody thinks they are big stuff because they got to walk and not ride in the stroller.

We celebrated Daddy's 34th birthday with lots of wonderful family!

Phia spent most of the night in her favorite person's lap.

If you don'talready know, On the Border will give your munchkin a ball of dough to play with while they wait for their food. Provides much more entertainment than you might think!

Kisses for Granny.

Daddy's girl.

The traditional cherry pic.

We had a party for Daddy at home too.

This seemed like a great idea. Foam pumpkins in the bath. Truthfully, it wasn't. One girl was a bit too old for it and one was a bit too young. For ages 3-5, I think it would be great!

Roo has recently discovered a love of mopping. I'm serious. And who am I to get in the way of my child's fun?!

Last month Phia began insisting on her own "boosh" (spoon) to feed herself. This month, it was a real "up" (cup). She does pretty well. The downside is that in order to save myself from a huge disaster, I only put a tiny sip of water in at a time. So I spend a lot of time refilling the cup!

Phia Phia also loves wearing big sisters panties. On top of her other clothes. I can't help it, I love it.

A rare glimpse at the elusive Brother. He comes around when it's movie time in Mommy and Daddy's bed. He claims it's the most comfortable bed EVER!

Random cuteness.

This has to be my favorite picture of all of October. Other than me tying the back of the apron, she did this all herself. Good gracious did she think she was cute! She kept saying "oh pitty!" over and over.

Lovin' on the Daddy

We've got a house full of book lovin' girls!

One of my favorite things about being home with both of my girls is the experiences we get to share in together. One beautiful day in October, we went to a local farm and had the most amazing time just being outside and playing together.
There was a petting zoo. Roo would pet the donkey, but that was about it. Phia liked to look, but if I even attempted to get close to anything, her grip would tighten and she would say "NOPE!"

It was such a perfect day to spend outside!

We even got to bring home little pumpkins.

Scottish Highland cow. Might be my new favorite animal.

Phia loves Roo more than anyone (except possibly me, but I'm convinced that that is only because I feed her.) Most days however, she is as mean as a snake to her. Roo is the first person she asks for when she wakes, and she doesn't like to be away from her for any amount of time, but anytime Roo tries to love on her, Phia will shout, "BOP!" (stop!) Poor Roo, she really wants nothing more than to be able to smother Phia with affection. But 99.9% of the time, it just isn't going to happen. This day was different. There was nothing but love all day. I don't know who was happier, Roo or me.

Beautiful day out in the country and my girls loving on each other nonstop. Seriously, does it get any better than that?!?

Another beautiful day was spent on the green line with some very dear friends.
The highlight of this trip had to be when we were exploring a trail though the woods and the girls ran into a hiking hippy and completely freaked out. He appeared out of nowhere and was pretty scary looking. The came to a dead stop, immediately began screaming, and turned and ran as fast as their little legs would carry them, all the while screaming "IS HE DEAD?!?!?!" Probably not the most appropriate or respectful response, but it was HILARIOUS!

Just some outside time at home.

More floweyes. (flowers)

Somebody picked out their own clothes this day. I have to admit, it's pretty awesome.

This particular evening, Roo was having a sleepover. Cookies were being made and decorated when "someone" discovered a cup of sprinkles.

Witches brew!

Pumpkin painting!
